Cattle Smuggling Continues Unabated in Assam

The cow smugglingis still continued unabated in the state and on Friday night, the Bokakhatpolice have seized a cow laden truck in front of Bokakhat police station.

The truck bearing registration number AS 01 AA 5745 has been seized while it was carrying 23 numbers of cows including a buffalo to Nagaon. It has come to notice during the search operation that the truck was carrying more cows than the required number.

The truck hasbeen seized after it has been found that the truck was carrying the cowswithout any valid documents. Police also lodged a suo moto case against thetruck and its driver at Bokakhat police station.

On the other hand, the locals of Golakganj have seized a pick-up van along with 12 cows and handed over to the police.

Locals allegedthat the cow smugglers were carrying the cattle by taking a chance of thedarkness at night but the locals successfully seized the cows.

It may be mentioned that the cows are being smuggled to Bangladesh through Dhubri through riverways and illegal roadways.

On Friday night,the pick-up van was carrying the cows when the locals suspected and stopped thevan from passing away from the spot and seized the cows. However, the driverwas absconded from the scene.
