Cattle syndicate continuing unabated in Assam

Cattle syndicate in the State is continuing unabatedand cases of illegal transportation of cattle are increasing day by day. It hasbeen alleged that the cattle from Assam are being smuggled to the neighbouringStates and Bangladesh.

A team of Assam Police on Saturday night seized five cattle-laden vehicles and detained the drivers from the Jorabat area. Police sources informed that the cattle were being carried from the Nine-Mile area to Meghalaya.

It has been alleged that the different departments like transport and animal husbandry are patronizing these illegal movements of cattle from Assam to Meghalaya and then to Bangladesh in return of lakhs rupees given by the cattle smugglers.
