The tensed situation prevailed in Chhaygaon area after the locals on Sunday afternoon nabbed five cattle lifters from the area. The angry locals also set ablaze a vehicle that belonged to one of the suspected cattle lifters.

According to reports, the locals in the Chhaygaon area caught five people and thrashed them on suspicion of being cattle lifters. Later they also set the vehicle on fire, they were travelling in. It was a Tata DI with the registration no. AS-12-CC-6191. The suspected cattle lifters have been identified as Jalaluddin, Alimuddin, Hassan Ali, Abinash Biswash and Farijur Haque.

Meanwhile,police reached the spot and detained the five cattle lifters. A case has beenregistered against them.
