With child marriages still prevalent in Assam in some corner or the other, in one such nooks, a minor was set to be married off to a 40 year old man in Kampur's Borhola.

Reportedly,it was due to the alertness of the local residents that the girl had beenrescued.

Judicialofficials and child line prevented the minor from being married off.

The girlis now in the supervision of the Nagaon Child Welfare Committee.

Complaint hasbeen filed against the child's father Tarun Saikia and two others, namely,Pradip Saikia and Biren Saikia.
