Thelocals in Guwahati's Downtown area on Sunday nabbed a bike-lifter red-handedand thrashed him in full public view. Later he was handed over to police.

Identifiedas Bubu Konwar, the bike-lifter has earlier records of involvement in stealingcases. On arresting Konwar, the police found out that he had been arrested forrobbery some months ago and sentenced to jail.

"Wehave arrested Konwar on the charge of robbery and will present him before thecourt. We will also attach his history with the charge sheet so that he gets alonger jail term," said a police officer.
