CM inaugurates Ambubachi Mela

AssamChief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday evening inaugurated the AmbubachiMela 2019 at Sonaram High School Field in Guwahati. Speaking on the occasionthe CM said that blessings of Maa Kamakhya enable devotees from around thecountry and the world to contribute meaningfully to sustain an environment ofpeace and harmony in the world.

The CMalso released an information booklet highlighting necessary information of theevent. He further urged the people of Guwahati to play the role of hosts likethe previous years to make this year's Ambubachi Mela a grand success.

Ambubachiis one of the largest congregations that Northeastern India hosts atop theNilachal Hills in Guwahati. Lakhs of visitors from across the globe visit theKamakhya temple to offer their prayers during this time.

Meanwhile, Bollywood singer Kailash Kher reached Guwahati Friday evening to mesmerise the devotees on the opening ceremony of Ambubachi Mela.

The door of the Kamakhya will remain closed from June 22 to mark the annual menstruation of goddess Kamakhya. The door will open on June 26.
