BJP Responsible for incorrect NRC: Congress

The Congress has expressed dissatisfaction over the National Register of Citizens' (NRC) published today with 19 lakhs name being excluded from it. The Congress claims that there are many errors in the NRC.

In a meeting held today at New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the Congress said that the BJP government is responsible for the NRC with so many errors. The meeting was also attended by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, opposition in the Lok Sabha Adhiranjan Choudhury, opposition leader of the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and representative from Assam Congress Gaurav Gogoi.

The Congress in its meeting said that both the Assam state governmentand the BJP government in the Centre expressed dissatisfaction over the NRC. Theopposition Congress said that Amit Shah and BJP has played politics with the 40lakh foreigners' during the Lok Sabha elections and now the BJP should seek pardonon their politics that they have played with the 21 lakh people.

The Congress further alleged that the BJP wants to keep alive the Bangladeshiissue for the sake of vote.

They further stated that they will help the genuine Indian citizens whowere left out of the NRC.
