Congress is experiencing sleepless nights: Modi in Moran

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his campaign for Lok Sabha Elections in Assam on Saturday by addressing public rally in Moran. He took part in the campaign for Jorhat BJP candidate Topon Kumar Gogoi and Dibrugarh BJP candidate Rameswar Teli.

PM wished, "A very happy Rongali Bihu" to the people of Assam. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, "Your chowkidaar has worked for vikas. Only 40% of households in Assam got power connections till 2014 but in 5 years of BJP rule, the percentage has touched 85%. 27 lakh in Assam covered under Ayushman Bharat scheme. 50 lakh people from Assam have taken Mudra loans."

"Because of your faith, I have been able to try to change the lives of the poor and deprived of Assam," Modi added. "With your blessings, we are protecting the cultural heritage of Assam and we have acted against illegal immigrants," said the PM.

Attacking the Congress, the PM said, "Congress family is experiencing sleepless nights after we have hit the terrorists," adding, "Not only chowkidars, opposition parties also dislike chaiwallahs (tea-sellers) too." The PM also said, "You are happy. India is happy. But people are two place are disturbed. One, the Congress family; and two, terrorist havens. When you vote for the BJP on April 11, there will be silence in these very places."

He also remembered Dr Bhupen Hazarika during his speech and said, "It gives me immense pleasure that our government has honoured the music maestro."

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal while speaking on the occasion said, "PM Modi had completed all the works that were pending since previous governments led by the Congress." CM also said that PM has provided Rs. 40,000 crore to the State. He also parised PM Modi's 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas' policy of PM Modi.

Apart from PM Modi and CM Sonowal, BJP Assam prabhari Mahendra Singh and sitting Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa were also present in the rally. After the rally in Moran, PM Modi left for Gohpur to address another election rally.
