Assam on Sunday evening recorded 1123 fresh cases of coronavirus infection taking the state's active cases tally to 18098, informed state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The 1123 active cases were detected out of 24492 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. Kamrup (M) reported 240 cases, followed by 121 cases from Jorhat district. The positivity rate is 4.58%

The total positive cases of the state stand at 58837, while, 145 deaths have been reported to date.

Meanwhile, the recoveries from COVID-19 have touched 40591.
