COVID-19 ASSAM: Angry Patients Block Road

Pratidin Bureau

In yet another case of COVID-19 patients taking umbrage at the facilities being provided to them by the state, many patients at Changsari in Kamrup district blocked a road today.

The protests brought the traffic to a standstill.

The patients, who were kept at a makeshift COVID hospital within the premises of a company, have expressed their displeasure over the lack of many facilities.

It has been accused by them that up to 15 patients were kept in a single small room.

The inmates of the hospital were also not given food to eat. A video shows a person complaining of not getting food even after getting admitted the day before.

Charges of a casual approach being taken by the state government have been levied by the patients of the said hospital.

They further said that there was no security at the entry and exit gate, and because of which, the patients were roaming freely without any restrictions.

They could also leave the campus if they wished, it has been alleged.
