COVID-19 Claim Two Lives in Assam, Toll at 24

Additional Director of Agriculture Department of Karbi Anglong district died due to COVID-19 on Thursday. The deceased, Ramsing Hanse was under treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and breathed his last today.

Another death was reported from Beltola, Guwahati. The deceased has been identified as Prosonno Kumar Haloi (70) who was admitted to GMCH.

The health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through his twitter handle the report of two deaths in the state today. The minister in his tweet said, "Very sad to inform that 2 more #COVID19 + patients Sri Prosnna Kumar Haloi (70) of Beltola, Guwahati and Sri Ramsingh Hanse (56) of Karbianglong admitted in GMCH Covid ICU succumbed to their critical infections this morning. Both were on invasive ventilation. My condolences."

The death toll in Assam climbed to 23 after the death of Ramsing Hanche. However, the health department is yet to declare it officially.

On Wednesday, the deadly virus claimed six lives in the state.

The total number of positive cases in the state reached 14032 with 5281 active cases.
