COVID-19: Lakhimpur Reports Highest Single-Day Count

Lakhimpur district witnessed a record number of 34 COVID-19 positive cases on Friday.

21 of these infected people are from North Lakhimpur Town, the district headquarters of the Lakhimpur district.

A total of 12 cases, out of the above figure, are from K.B. Road, one of the busiest places of the town.

The state of Assam has been inflicted by a sudden jump in the number of positive cases. The Principal Secretary of Assam's Health Department Samir Sinha today suggested extending the ongoing lockdown in Guwahati.

Jorhat and Golaghat have recently announced complete lockdown to contain community transmission of the deadly contagion.

The municipal areas of all other districts of the state are having a weekend lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays.
