COVID-19 Vaccine To Be Available by Aug 30: Himanta

Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that the COVID-19 vaccine would be available in the market within August 30.

Briefing the media persons, the minister said that the coronavirus pandemic would come to an end once the vaccine would be available. He, therefore, requested the people to fight for two months and asked them to remain safe and secure by maintaining the COVID-19 norms.

The minister further stated that the government is also planning to impose lockdown in the areas where the cases are increasing adding that lockdown might be imposed at Amingaon and North Guwahati.

The Deputy Commissioners of different districts have been instructed to take stock of the situation in their respective districts and asked them to impose lockdown in the areas by identifying the vulnerable places.
