In the latest development, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "In the biggest spike ever, Assam on July 4 reported 1202 active COVID-19 cases, 777 of these from Guwahati City alone".

The minister added, "Time for all of us to be extra vigilant".

The total tally of the state stands at 11,0001 now. So far, 6327 have recovered and 14 deaths have been reported. Active cases climbed to 4657.
