C’ship Bill no threat to Assam: Angoorlata Deka

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Angoorlata Deka on Tuesday said that the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 won't cause any harm to the people of Assam. Deka said, "The Bill once implemented would cause no threat for the indigenous people of he state and  cause no harm to the Assamese culture".

The Batadrawa MLA also said that the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have already explained the bill to the people of Assam.

The BJP Government would never hurt the culture and language of Assam, added Deka.

It is to be mentioned that the state is under turmoil due to the centers decision of implementing the Citizenship (Amendment)  Bill 2016.

Amid protest all over the state the bill has been passed at the Lok Sabha, however it is yet to be passed at the Rajya sabha.
