Cyber Criminals Strike Big in Lanka

Sarbeswar Mudoi, a resident of Lanka's Lankapatti area has become the latest cyber crime victim in Assam when on Friday he discovered that cyber criminals have looted Rs 266500 from his State Bank of India (SBI) account.

The crime came to light on Friday when Mudoi went to update his SBI passbook in the bank.

Upon updating, Mudoi discovered that cyber criminals from May 21 to June 20 have withdrawn the above mentioned amount in 37 different transactions.

Mudoi has lodged an FIR against this alleged cyber crime and the police has began investigating the case.

It may be mentioned here that such fraudulent withdrawal of cash from bank accounts has also been reported in the state earlier.
