Death of pregnant woman in Nokhuti stirs chaos

In a recent turn of events, the incident of a pregnant woman's death, who was assaulted during Karbi Anglong administration's eviction drive has stirred achaotic situation in Nokhuti.

People have gathered in front of the Nokhuti Police station with the remains of the deceased, Kulsuma Begum, as protest.

It was on March 04 that the pregnant woman fell prey to assault during the eviction drive carried out by the Karbi Anglong district administration in the bordering areas of the Hojai district.

Kulsuma was in a critical condition undergoing treatment at a hospital when last night she succumbed to her injuries. It was only after receiving the dead body, the situation of the area turned chaotic.

According to reports, more than five hundred villagers stage protest in front of the police station demanding 10 lakh as compensation and to take responsibility of the new born.
