Death toll rising; BJP lawmakers still busy in meeting

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, MP Rameswar Teli, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Minister Tapan Gogoi, Pallab Lochan Das along with many BJP lawmakers of upper Assam had landed into controversy after they were seen attending mass gathering at Chowkidingee in Dibrugarh on the occasion of  the tea-community centric cultural programme – Kacha Sona, while more than 150 people have died due to poisonous hooch consumption.

The local people have also complained that the leaders are least interested in probing a large number of deaths of people.

MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Bimal Borah, Teros Gowala, Sanjay Kishan, Suren Phukan, Jogen Mohan, Diganta Ghatowar, Sibaprasad Bhadra, Prahlad Gowala also took part in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Opposition parties have demanded the resignation of both the CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, as he blamed the inability of the ruling party for the disaster in Assam.
