A couple was murdered by a culprit namely Jaggu Praja at Demow's Dikhari tea garden in Sivasagar district on the eve of Thursday.

Culprit Jaggu Praja allegedly entered the couple's house at night and attacked them with a sharp object.

The couple was identified as Bhola Praja and Ramani Praja.

After committing the murder, the accused murderer fled to avoid being caught by the police.

However, acting on a tip-off, a team of Moran Police led by OC Dipendra Chetry had managed to detain the culprit at Tikhorai on Friday morning.

After the incident of Thursday night, local people attacked the house of the murderer's family.

Unfortunately, Puron Praja, the brother of Jaggu Praja had died in a mob attack by the angry people of Dikhari tea garden.

The angry mob also attacked Lakhmi Praja the mother of Jaggu Praja who is now fighting to the death – As per sources.

It may be mentioned that in the incident there are three people have died and another is fighting to the death.
