DGP admits Assam police’s inability to arrest Garga Chatterjee

Pratidin Bureau

Assam's Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Monday admitted the state police's inability to arrest political commentator Garga Chatterjee in Kolkata.

The Assam Police team returned from Kolkata after failing to arrest the political stooge, Garga Chatterjee. Chatterjee could not be arrested due to political interference in Kolkata. The DGP said, "We are trying to figure out how to get him arrested".

Last month Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal instructed the state police to arrest Chatterjee for his objectionable remarks on Ahom Kindom ruler Chaolung Sukaphaa by calling him a "Chinese Invader".
