TheDispur Police in association with the Karbi Anglong Police arrested the TreasuryOfficer of Diphu on Monday. Amarendra Sharma, the Treasury Officer was arrestedfrom Choudhury Villa in Dispur in connection with the financial anomalies inDiphu Treasury.

Earlier, Sharma was suspended from his post on April 10. He was absconding since then.

Notably, a sum of Rs. 5,56,100 was recovered in Diphu treasury office from the chamber of then Treasury Officer Amarendra Sharma during a raid by Karbi Anglong police. There has been allegation that Sharma had been taking money as bribe to clear the bills.
