'Sangeet Surya' Dr. Bhupen Hazarika is being warmly remembered across Assam on Thursday on his 9th death anniversary.

Many social-cultural organizations in the state would be paying their heartfelt tributes to the bard of Brahmaputra.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will arrive at his memorial site – Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Samadhi Kshetra to pay his respects at 10 AM.

Later in the evening, Assam government will cultural tribute will be paid to the balladeer in Rabindra Bhawan.

Bharat Ratna recipient Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was born on 8 September 1926 and he passed away today in 2011 at the age of  95. Fondly known as Sudhakanta, Dr. Hazarika has was an Indian playback singer, lyricist, musician, poet and filmmaker.
