Durga idol vandalised in Howly

Unidentified miscreants vandalised idol of Goddess Durga at a Durga puja pandal in Barpeta's Howly. The miscreants vandalised the head of Goddess durga sometime around early hours on Thursday at Ananda bazaar puja pandal.
After the incident the locals of the region blocked the Howly Barpeta road demanding an investigation and immediate punishment of the miscreants.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed in the area. The Media Adviser of Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Hrishikesh Goswami visited the Puja Pandal to take a stock of the situation.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Barpeta district Violet Barua, Assistant Superintendent of police (ASP) Samiran Baishya visited the puja pandal and an investigation has been initiated by Barpeta Police.

It is to be mentioned that the idols of Howly Puja was given a traditional Assamese attire.

Earlier on October 14th, Idols of Goddess Durga and Lord Ganesh were found vandalised at New Field puja mandap in Guwahati's Paltan Bazar.
