Erosion Wreaks Havoc in Jamuguri

Pratidin Bureau

Erosion in Jhanji River wreaks havoc in the Jamuguri area, and the river embankments started to breach in Jamuguri Murakota village.

The communication between the Jhanji-Jamuguri village in Sivasagar and between the Jamuguri-Moransinga-Tamulisinga people might be erupted due to the erosion. Although the Water Resource department has taken measures to tackle the erosion but still the locals are not satisfied with it saying that the temporary measures might not help the village to breach away from erosion.

It has also been noticed that due to the massive erosion, there eruptsa crack by the side of the concrete embankment in almost 25 meters.

The locals said that if the embankments in the Tamulisinga-Khanamukhconnecting road via Moransinga in the National Highway No 37 would be breachedaway in erosion, then the communication would be hampered in the area.

The locals have blocked the road for commuters by giving bamboo fencingin the cracked area to stop plying of heavy vehicles.

It may be mentioned that the water resource department and the PWD havesaid that they will take temporary measures where erosion took place and alsoin the cracked areas.
