Excise officials’ Accident: Dumper driver detained

TheGolaghat Police on Thursday detained the driver of the dumper that collidedwith the vehicle, where the Excise department officials were travelling in. Three excise department officials died following theaccident.

The driver of the dumper (NL-05-G-1049)has been identified as Samir Garh. He had absconded from the scene immediatelyafter the accident.

According to reports, two excise department officials – Inspector Sumu Maibongsa and Constable Ramen Gurung, died on the spot. On the other hand, Excise Sub-Inspector Harekrishna Kumar succumbed to his injuries at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH).

Meanwhile, Assam CM Sonowal ordereda probe into the tragic incident. He asked Upper Assam Divisional CommissionerJulie Sonowal to initiate the investigation.
