The Barpathar Police on Sunday detained a fake Chartered Accountant (CA) from Guwahati. The fake CA has been identified as Sandeep Khokharia.

As per the reports, Khokharia was detained after he allegedly cheated a businessman of Rs. 13 crore on the pretext of filing Income Tax. Khokharia has allegedly submitted fake receipt of I-T department to the businessman, who hails from Borpathar area.

The incident came to light after the businessman contacted the I-T department. Following which the businessman lodged an FIR at Barpathar PS and the police detained him on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Police have recovered fake challan worth Rs. 70,15,130 from Khokharia's possession.
