Ferry stops midway in Brahmaputra

An engineof a ferry which started from Majgaon Ghat in North Guwahati, suddenly stoppedworking after coming a little away from the ghat.

Accordingto reports, there were more than hundred people on the ferry.

Avertingwhat could have been a tragic disaster, another ferry came in rescue of thepassengers.

At a time when the water level of the Brahmaputra River is rising at an alarming rate, ferry services become a dangerous affair.

However, people tend to opt for this means of communication even after several incidents of boat tragedies, owing to shorter duration of travel and also that it costs less.
