First ever Northeast Olympic Games from tomorrow

The region is ready to witness another uprising in the field of sports as Manipur is all set to host the first ever Northeast Olympic Games from October 24.

The Games will kick start at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Imphal tomorrow with Eastern Ground and D.M. College Indoor Stadium being other venues for the games from October 24-28.

The Northeast Olympic Games will host all the eight northeastern states, who will participate in 12 different disciplines. Around 1,900 athletes will take part in the Games.

Meanwhile, the Assam contingent comprising of 238 athletes left for Imphal on Monday accompanied by Assam's Chef-de-Mission to the Games Anup Choudhury.

Assam will participate in all the 12 discipline – Athletics (35), Archery (26), Badminton (10), Weightlifting (18), Wushu (25), Judo (12), Shooting (14), Taekwondo (22), Boxing (19, Football (36 – Men & Women)), Table Tennis (10) and Karate (10) – Assam Olympic Association (AOA) president Rokybul Hussian informed.

The Imphal edition of the First North East Olympic Games 2018 is being supported by all the eight states, government departments, sporting associations, private agencies and more particularly the host, Manipur Olympic Association.
