Five Rhino Poachers Arrested in Biswanath

The ForestDepartment on Sunday arrested five rhino poachers from Borgang area underBiswanath district. The arrested poachers have been identified as Arfan Ali,Ramkuiba, Mintu Hazarika, Tunmoni Saikia and Puniram Das.

"Theyhave come from Biswanath Chariali town. We have initiated an interrogation,"informed a forest official. The police recovered six mobiles a motorcycle from theirpossession.

Illegalrhino horn trade has been the main problem facing managers of therhino-protected areas of Assam. Some other parts like nails, skins have veryhigh value in Asian traditional medicinal market, which has led to increasedcases of rhino killing in recent years.
