Flood Situation in Assam Worsens, 2 Dead

The unseasonal flood situation in Assam worsens with the increasing level of water in the Rivers. Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta and Hill Development minister Sum Ranghang visited the flood-affected victims in the relief camp in Karbi Anglong on Tuesday on the instruction of the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

It may be mentioned that the rising water level of Kapili River has submerged many villages of Karbi Anglong underwater.

The two ministers visited the flood-affected areas to take stock of the situation and announced that the government will provide all the relief materials to the victims and will also provide Rs. 3800 to the flood-affected families.

On the other hand, one person died in the flood due to the rising water level of the Diphu River.

Moreover, flood situations in Kampur, Hojai, Numaligarh, Golaghat worsens and people are being shifted to the relief camps by NDRF and SDRF teams.  

Ten families of Numaligarh Marangi Halowa village are still submerged underwater. Chaos erupts amongst people of the area as communication has been disrupted.

Meanwhile, another person Ajit Gogoi (45) died at Teok in Jorhat district. The person fell on the Teok River when he tried to cross the river when he was returning back home on Monday night. The SDRF team has continued its rescue operation but has not yet rescued the body.
