Flooding pounds Gohpur

Pratidin Bureau

The increase of water levels of the River Brahmaputra triggered by heavy rains has created a flood-like situation in the southern part of the national highway 15 in Gohpur subdivision.

On Saturday night villages of Dubiya, Gopalpur, South Kalabari, Sonalibari, Bordop, Sukura, Kharanijaan, Kamlapathar among other villages were inundated. Due to the sudden flood crisis, village-dwellers have a scarcity of drinking water. The villagers through boats are travelling to nearby places for fetching drinking water.

Farmlands have submerged underwater causing distress among the farmers, while, in order to protect the livestock, the cattle have been kept at Gorokapatani road.
