Two flying squad members arrested in Guwahati

Gorchuk Police on Monday arrested two members of a flying squad for allegedly pocketing money from a businessman at Pamohi area in Guwahati. Dipankar Hazarika and Ali Kamal Hussain, the members of a flying squad formed by the Kamrup DC, have pocketed money from Jahangir Alam, a businessman from Barpeta, while checking vehicles under West Guwahati Assembly constituency on Sunday.

According to reports, Jahangir Alam was carrying Rs. 2.50 lakh cash in his vehicle when the flying squad members stopped it for checking. After finding Rs. 2.5 lakh in cash, both the members of the flying squad asked for proper documents against the sum of rupees. But being unable to find proper documents from Jahangir, both the flying squad members demanded Rs. 1 lakh and later pocketed Rs. 50 thousand from him and released him.

Based on a FIR lodged by Jahangir, the Gorchuk police arrested the flying squad members on Monday. Arrested Dipankar Hazarika is Ranger in the Soil Conservation Department and Ali Kamal Hussain is a Gram Sevak.
