Former Congress MLA Sarat Saikia Passes Away

Former MLA of Mahmora constituency in Sivasagar district and leader ofCongress, Sarat Saikia died on Thursday morning in a hospital in Kolkata.

Saikia was suffering from kidney disorder and was under treatment in ahospital at Kolkata since four months.

Saikia, who served as the Parliamentary Secretary during the TarunGogoi-led government has won the parliamentary election from Mahmoraconstituency in 2001. 2006 and 2011.

According to the family members of Saikia, the mortal remains have notbeen able to brought to home on Thursday due to non-availability of flights andthe body will reach Moran on Friday.

Saikia leave behind his son, daughter, daughter-in-law, son-in-law andhis grandchildren.
