Former Assam minister Chandan Kumar Sarkar passed away in the wee hours of Monday at the Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon.

The senior Congress leader suffered a heart attack after which he was admitted to the hospital where he passed away.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has expressed grief at the sudden demise of the party leader.

APCC president Ripun Bora in a condolence message offered his deep condolences to the bereaved family of South Abhayapuri legislator Sarkar.

Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also expressed condolences at the demise of the former minister.
