Foundation stone of proposed Cultural University laid at Majuli

On Friday, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stone of the proposed Cultural University at Garamur mini stadium in Majuli district marking it as historic day for the river island.

The CM also laid the foundation stone of Panchayat Resource Centre and Police Guesthouse at the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Sonowal said that the Cultural University will promote and preserve the age old customs and spiritual heritage of Assam, of which the river island is the nerve centre.

"Led by the teachings and thoughts of our Gurujonas, this is a golden opportunity for Majuli to reclaim its ancient heritage", the CM added.
