Gautam Roy & Siddique Ahmed to Join AGP?

Pratidin Bureau

Former Congress leaders Gautam Roy and Siddique Ahmed are expected to join Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), claimed Hailakandi AGP district President Aftab Uddin Laskar on Saturday.

Laskar informed that both Roy and Ahmed expressed their keenness to join the party to AGP president Atul Bora and former CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

"Both Gautam Roy and Siddique Ahmed are in constant touch with the AGP leaders. Soon, they will join the party," said Ahmed.

It may be mentioned that the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) suspended Roy for 'anti-party activities' on June 16.

The decision to suspend Roy came days after he was seen celebrating the Bharatiya Janata Party's victory in the recently declared Lok Sabha elections on May 23, 2019.

It was also speculated that, after his suspension from the Congress, Roy might join the BJP.
