Govt. aid for tea garden workers

Ahead of the upcoming panchayat and assembly elections, government of Assam has announced several schemes for tea garden workers. This afternoon, State Tea Tribes' Welfare minister Pallab Lochan Das announced some welfare schemes for tea garden workers of the state.

According to the minister, One hundred distinguished HSLC first division holders (Female) will get scooty.

"Our Government has decided to organise 'Dhan-Mela' in tea gardens, each labour of tea gardens will get a sum of Rs 2,500, Old-age pensions to be allotted. We will provide mobile phones for Sardars."- said Pallab.

"Rs 25,000 financial assistance to be provided for the self-help groups of Tea gardens." – Pallab added.

Earlier, Assam government launched wage compensation scheme for pregnant women in tea garden districts.Under the scheme, each pregnant woman in tea gardens will get a sum of Rs 12,000 so that she can take better care of herself and her unborn baby without compromising the livelihood of her family.
