Govt pressurized us to remain silent: Anup Chetia

Anup Chetia, the general secretary of ULFA faction which is currently in talks with the government made a shocking statement on Sunday at a press conference saying, " The government planned the arrest of Jiten  Dutta when Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi was arrested, but he was not arrested as we intervened in September".

"We are not able to oppose arrest of Dutta as we( the pro talks faction) are ongoing peace talks with the central government", added Chetia.

The Pro Talks ULFA leader also said, "We are pressurized to remain silent over the current situation at the meeting held at Delhi recently". We have to remain silent even   if we want to intervene, added Chetia.

Earlier on October 30, a meeting was chaired between Pro talk United Liberation front of Assam (ULFA) faction and the Centre in Delhi on Tuesday. Senior leader Anup Chetia, Sasadhar Chaudhary, Chitraban Hazarika and Raju Barua who were present at the meeting  informed that the peace talks are in the right direction and soon a conclusion will be reached.

ULFA leader Jiten Dutta was arrested by the Assam Police for allegedly making objectionable speeches in a meeting held in Geetanagar on October 24.
