Govt’s Strict Rules Forced to Shut Pollution Checking centres

Pratidin Bureau

Since the government has come against pollution under check (PUC) certificate forgery in the state, multiple pollution checking centres across Guwahati have terminated their services with no reason.

When asked by our reporter about it they said that the checking centres have been closed due to technical issues. Earlier, it had been reported that people obtain PUC certificates even without conducting the necessary tests.

Taking advantage of heavy rush after the implementation of newtraffic regulations, pollution checking centres are issuing certificateswithout checking vehicles in the state and charging vehicle owners at will.

It may be mentioned that the Commissioner of Transport, AssamVirendra Mittal (IAS) on Saturday directed the DTOs in the state to monitor theissuing process of pollution under check (PUC) certificates.
