Guwahati circle branch of IPPB launched by CM Sonowal

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday inaugurated the Guwahati circle branch of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) at a ceremony in Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra.

Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharjee, BJP MP Bijoya Chakravarty  and other party leaders were also present along with the CM at the nationwide IPPB launch.

In total, 26 branches of India Post Payments Bank have been in Assam on Saturday.

"Within December, the service will be taken to customers via 4011 branches and access points. Out of these, 93% access points will be based in rural areas", CM Sonowal said on the occasion.

The new payments bank will take the initiative to next level by empowering rural populace with banking services at their doorsteps, aiming at financial inclusion of the poorest of the poor, the CM added.
