Guwahati customs seizes 6300 kgs of banned Chinese apples

Guwahati Customs has seized 350 Cartons of Chinese apple weighing 6300 kgs at ISBT on Saturday.

The value of the seized apple has been reported to Rs. 12, 60,000. The apples were being transported from Imphal by buses.

Reportedly, the Customs duty of these apples is around 8 lakh.

It was based on the inputs given by Pratidin Time that the Customs Division had been able to seize these imported apples.

So far no one has come forward to claim the seized goods. A case has been booked and is being investigated.

It may be noted here that, Indian government had banned the import of Chinese apples with effect from June 01 in 2017.
