Guwahati To Get All-Women Polling Stations

With elections knocking on the door, political parties are getting ready to move their respective campaigning into top gear. The Election officials will set up several polling stations in Guwahati, which will be entirely managed by women.
Such booths are aimed at empowering women and increasing their participation in the electoral process, officials said.

According to reports, 60 polling stations- West Guwahati, East Guwahati, Jalukbari and Dispur under Guwahati city will be run entirely by women. These special booths have all-women staff, including 1 presiding officer, 3 polling officers, micro observers and security personnel.

On the other hand there will be 8-10 model polling stations where people can avail free services like providing clean drinking water, wheel chair for physically challenged people and many more.

These women who will be engaged in upcoming election polling booths are undergoing training. According to officials, there are more women polling stations this year in comparison to earlier elections.
