Guwahati to host one of India’s WC Qualifiers!

Guwahatiis likely to host one of India's qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup 2022. TheAssam Football Association (AFA) reportedly expressed its interest in hostingthe first qualifying match against Oman on September 5.

"Wehave got in touch with the All India Football Federation requesting them togive us one of the World Cup qualifying matches and they considered it. Thereis a chance we might get the September 5 game," AFA general secretary HemenBrahma was quoted as saying by PTI.

Accordingto sources in AIFF, "nothing has been finalised yet." Before taking a decisionregarding hosting a match in Guwahati, the Asian Football Confederations (AFC)officials will examine the venue. The Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium inSarusajai could get to host the game.
