In good news for people of Assam and one of the biggest river island in the world, the government has decided to start a sea-plane commercial service from Guwahati to the river island within December 2018.

To achieve this feat, a team comprising of 12 people from Airport Authority of India (AAI), Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Spicejet Airline were present today in the river island to inspect and study opportunities to construct an area suitable for the planes to land and take-off.

The team first inspected the area around Kamalabari Ferry Ghat and then moved on to Lower Majuli Selek area to find a suitable place for sea-planes to operate conveniently.

People of Majuli are likely to avail the facility of experiencing a sea-plane journey before December this year.
