Guwahati: Wounds Still Fresh 13 Years After Oct 30 Serial Blasts

30 October, 2008 was a black day in the history of Assam as a series of blasts took place across the city and other parts of the state, claiming many lives. Every year since, a homage ceremony is observed under the Ganeshguri flyover, which was one of the blast sites.

The yearly homage ceremony on the ocassion of the 13th anniversary of the dreadful October 30 blasts was organized today. The ceremony was organized by Kamrup (M) District Administration under the Ganeshguri flyover, one of the blast sites. 

Religious persons from different religions were present to offer prayers to the departed souls in the unfortunate incident. MLA Parimal Suklabaidya, MLA Chandra Mohan Patowary, Queen Oja, member of Lok Sabha and MLA from Dispur, Atul Bora were also present in the ceremony to offer their condolences. They then offered floral tribute to the photos of those who lost their lives.

Many people were killed and several others were left injured for life in the serial blasts of 2008. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma offered his condolences on Twitter.

Remembrance ceremonies are being held in many other parts of the city and the state today.
