Hearing of Jhankar Saikia lynching case starts

Finally after 5 years of grief and pending justice, Diphu district court has commenced the hearing process of the brutal Jhankar Saikia mob lynching case.

Haren Saikia, father of Jhankar, along with his wife have waited for this day for eternity in hope of justice for their son who was killed in the middle of the road at Karbi Anglong by a mob for refusing to pay a mere Rs.10.

Jhankar Saikia was beaten to death in 2013 by a group of auto-rickshaw drivers and was later shifted to a private hospital in a critical condition. Jhankar did not survive the brutality and was declared dead.

Five witnesses in connection with the case were presented in the district court today.

The hearing will continue on September 14 and 15 too
