Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates 900-bed COVID-19 hospital

A new hospital for the treatment of COVID-19 has been inaugurated by health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday at the Khanapara Veterinary Playground in Guwahati.

900-beds are available for patients tested positive for COVID-19. The minister said, "Except for an ICU every other facility is available for the patients".

Sarma asserted, "Home-cooked food will be allowed to patients and the food has to be carried in disposable containers".

Healthcare professionals from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital will provide medical assistance to the patients, "40 doctors and 150 nurses are on board," said Sarma.

Sarma further added Maligaon Railway Hospital will also be converted into a COVID-19 hospital. The minister also stressed, "If required the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre will also be converted into a COVID-19 hospital".
