Himanta hints at contesting LS polls

Pratidin Bureau

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday hinted that he might contest in the coming Lok Sabha elections. Minister Sarma also said that he might be contesting from any of the 14 constituencies in Assam.

"As I have said earlier, I want to leave State politics and will not contest in 2021 assembly election. So if the party gives me a ticket to contest in Lok Sabha election, I will contest," said the Minister in Bihpuria under Lakhimpur district. He also added, "I cannot take the decision of contesting election and it is not necessarily Tezpur, I can contest from any of the 14 constituencies of Assam."

The Assam finance minister also predicted that BJP would win 19 Lok Sabha seats out of 25 seats from northeast.
