Pratidin Bureau

Even though no official announcements have been made, BJP is most likely to field Rajen Borthakur from Tezpur seat and Rupak Sharma from Nagaon seat for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls – as per reports.

Internal sources said that the BJP core committee has decided to field the two candidates from Tezpur and Nagaon, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Assam this evening. But, BJP still in dilemma over Nagaon, Tezpur seats.

This evening, through a tweet National President of Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah clarified that Himanta Biswa Sarma will not make the parliamentary poll debut.

In a tweet, Shah said that Sarma is the convener of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), he has to look after all the parliamentary seats across the region. He also added that the decision was taken by BJP central leadership for the greater interest of Assam and NE. However, this has been viewed as a balm to sulking Himanta Biswa Sarma.
