Hog deer killed in Kaziranga road accident

Despite the measures like imposing Section 144 overthe NH-37 in Kaziranga National Park area, a hog deer was killed in a roadaccident in the national park on Saturday. According to reports, the deer washit by a vehicle, which escaped from the scene after the accident.

Park authorities said the deer was killed at the spotwhen it was trying to cross the road.

It may be mentioned here that in the view of thecurrent flood situation in the Kaziranga, the district administrationpromulgated Section 144 over NH-37 to save the animals and reduce man-animalconflict within the KNP area.

Due to rising water levels, wild animals are strayinginto higher grounds in the park while many are crossing over the NH-37 to reachhighlands in the neighbouring Karbi Hills.
